Every year the SIGB gather all the major ski brands and their demo skis and boots together in a European resort for the ski test. The UK retailers come out to try out all the ski models on snow with the aim to to work out which are the best skis to sell in their stores.

In previous years, the ski test has been in Austria, in either Kuhtai or Galtur. However this year it was the turn of the Italian resort of Pila. Pila is an Alpine ski-resort in the Aosta Valley region of northern Italy, with great skiing up to 2700m.

For us at Fluid Lines it is the perfect chance to try out a variety of skis from all the best ski brands in the industry. This helps us to decide which skis we feel will be the best models to sell to our customers. We feel it is important that we don’t just sell skis but test them first. This allows us to say with confidence what the best ski is for our customers.
As ski instructors with many years experience in the mountains, we are very in tune with that works and what doesn’t in a ski, this makes us the ideal people to test skis and make excellent recommendations to you!
Due to the conditions this year and high temperatures it was not possible to test off piste skis. However, it did give us chance to rip around on a mixture of piste performance and all mountain skis.

Will and Tom spent this ski test working for Scott Sports and Dynastar/Lange respectively. Although they were working, they still had plenty of time to get out skiing and testing loads of skis from Volkl, Scott, Head, Dynastar, Salomon and many more.

Lee and Alex Tridini, who also work in the shop, joined the test and worked their way through all the brands and ski models giving their feedback on the best skis they used.
The great benefit of testing skis from all the brands is that we are able to create a shortlist of all the models that we believe will suit our customers best.
We build a piste, all mountain and off piste range that we believe perform the best in the given conditions. Keep an eye out for some of the models we stock next winter, we’d be more than happy to talk you through them and why we believe that perform so well compared to other skis on the market.
